Well at first you'd think..."why Pi". Well it's after Piscine Molitor which is a swimmimg pool in France.
Named by his uncle Piscine was bullied in school by his friends who told "Pissing ManEater Patel".
Tired of this the young boy took revenge by explaining it to the whole class that he would be called Pi.
The 6th alphabet of the Greek alphabets and the ratio between the circumference and diameter of a circle. He transformed from Piscine to Pi and came to be a legend by writing and filling the whole blackboard by what 3.14 would follow.
His father sells his hotel and makes a zoo. The young Pi very fondly likes one tiger..called Richard Parker.
His journey begins at a shipwreck where he loses his family stuck all alone in a life boat with a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena and the tiger Richard Parker. Eventually all the other animals die except the tiger and Pi.
Soon they find out that to survive they need each other therefore they collaborate. Soon they reach a floating island which turns out to be carnivorous by night.
They head out of the island and the two of them soon start adapting to their ways and they then know that without the other they wont survive.
Finally they reach the Mexican coast where Pi faints and sees Richard Parker for the last time.
